(Songwriter/Folk/Country Rock/Roots) 2009 Ramseur- Additional project/spin-off of singer/songwriter/guitarist David Childers and Avett Brothers-bass player Bob Crawford along with guitarist/mandolin player Randy Saxon and Robert Childers on the drums. They all belong to the innovative americana community in and around Charlotte, North Carolina. Childers looks back on a career with more than 15 years of recording and a handful of albums; he stands for the crazy, unusual, totally maladjusted and unpredictable side of alternative country or alternative folk. His last appearance was with the Modern Don Juans together with his son Robert and Randy Saxon. Afterwards he became disillusioned and burnt-out was on the verge of giving up and retiring. Bob Crawford, admirer of David Childers for a long time, and colleague with the iconic and often off-key Avett Brothers on the same label (ramseur), gave him a buzz for a musical resurrection. The quartet named itself after American frontiersmen who took part in the american revolutionary war. A variety of good and distinctive songs was composed and recorded in the style of the Gourds, Crooked Jades, Old Crow Medicine Show, Bad Livers. Richly colored CD with faster/slower, acoustic/electric, serious/good-humored songs, arranged with guitar, bass, drums plus mandolin, banjo, fiddle, accordion, trumpet, xylophone, piano, more guitars, cello and more.
